Hidden at Rookwood

The Hidden sculpture exhibition at Rookwood cemetery was great! I went with my friend Emily.
We had a picnic, saw some lovely big crows, and enjoyed all the art.

Here are a few of my favourite images:

Funeral music, from marches to Monty Python

Emily and some kind of skeleton in a tree. Cow, maybe?

I love pathways broken up by tree roots

Some beautiful tombs

The Darkling Tag

Tagged by Giggles in the Darkness

Simple Questions

What is your favorite candle scent? My favourite scent for anything would be jasmine!

Do you have a favorite book? It is so hard to choose! I have a huge list of favourites like Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Neil Gaiman, Charles de Lint, Francesca Lia Block and more! My favourite book for this year was probably Fairytales for Wilde Girls by Allyse Near.

Are you a tea or coffee person? Tea! I'm caffeine intolerant! Even too much black tea will keep me up!

What is your favourite perfume/ cologne? Madame X by Alkemia on Etsy. Or anything with a light floral smell.

Do you have a celebrity crush? Julian Sands, Eva Green and Tom Hiddleston.
What would your Stereotypical Goth name be? Asphodel Mordant, maybe? There are so many choices!

What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while black clad? I actually wear a lot of green because it's my favourite colour. I am very Heat sensitive and find fabrics like cotton and rayon are best for summer. Putting water on pulse points can also help.

What song will always make you happy (doesn’t have to be a goth band)? The Cure always make me happy, usually The Smiths.

Are you active in the arts (ex. Play an instrument, paint, write, etc)? I write, I draw a little. I used to write some songs as a kid. Writing is really important to me, and I want to do it as a career in the future.

What is your number one non-gothy hobby? Craft, I guess?

Thought Provokers:

If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be and why? Vampire I guess, or Faery.

What horror monster super power would you have? Vampire powers! Persuasion would be useful. Being immortal, imagine all the books you could read and films you could watch. If I could cure people with my blood like in a The Vampire Diaries it would be great!

Do you feel confident or comfortable interacting with other Goths or gothy people (online or irl)? Fairly confident, Sometimes I worry people won't like me because I'm not typical Goth enough. But that's their loss.

Which is more important for a look: Great hair or great makeup? I'll say makeup, because my hair has gone through some pretty ratty growing out stages this year and I've still pulled off some good looks.

Is there something you wish there was more of in your subculture? I'd love more day events where you can actually talk to people, but I guess it's not so Goth, haha!

Do you have an Embarrassing story about your darkliness? Sometimes my life is a disastrous sitcom, but I don't actually have any embarrassing stories like that.

How are you at DIY? I can sew and do a bit of craft.

Confessional (aka True or False)

I love watching cheesy romance films. False.

I ALWAYS remember to wash off my makeup at night. True but I don't wear makeup every day either.

I sleep with plushies. True. It's comforting. When I nap during the day it's hugging my dog, but at night it's just my partner, me and my current favourite toy cat.

I wear non-black pajamas most nights. True.

I think Andrew Eldritch is overrated. True and false. As a person I'm not that into him but he's a good musician.

I don’t like vampires. False. I love vampires. Except preppy ones that don't drink blood.

I don’t like clubs. False. I enjoy clubs, despite not liking crowds, I feel quite safe in Alternative clubs and the music makes me feel good.

I don’t enjoy graveyards. False. I do, they are peaceful places. The old ones are very beautiful.

Blood makes me queasy. True, in real life anyway, but more because of fear of contagion. It's how you get the zombie virus, you know!

I'd sooner faint than pat a spider. False. I've never met one big enough to pat but I rescue them when needed, and we had a pet Five legged jumping spider we took care of.

I don’t like haunted houses. True and false. I like the idea, I love the look of spooky old houses. But I wouldn't go to one. That's when the bad things happen to you.

I’ve never read Dracula. False. I love that book! I think it's essential reading!

I think “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is a long and boring song. False. It's wonderful!
